Photoshop study, How'd I do that?,

No photos used in the making of this image.

I started with a drawing on a small 6X8" panel. I scanned it. The next step after photoshop is to paint it in oil.

On a new layer I paint with the layer setting on multiply.I made a copy of the paint layer to give it more saturation.

Using the Elliptical Marquee tool I made a copy from the light bottom part of the can and pulled the 9 copies up one by one.

I turned off the line drawing

I used the blur/smudge tool to give it the final finish.

Color key,

This is the only color key that I have from a Bugs Bunny Wheatabix TV commercial I did BG's for in London back in 92. It's on youtube but very washed out.

Color key,

This is what I'm working on, did the gouache color key and line drawing some 4-5 years ago. It was to be for TOY STORY 3 but I never finished it. Now I'm taking a bit of time to see if I could make it work.

I started by making "bits" in a separate photo shop file.

This is the finish I'm after.

Dedication,

Before attending Ontario Collage of Art in Toronto I had made up my mind that working from photos was some how not the way to real "Art".
So all through my 4 years of Collage I did all my drawing and painting from careful observation. This meant that I had to go out in the winter to do a snow scene. Here I am back in the mid 70's doing a drawing on my parents farm of their barn. I did the drawing outside and the watercolor that was also some 40" wide indoors, the color was from memory.
