A demo,

I did this drawing last Dec. and thought it might make a nice painting.I start by just painting over the drawing on a new layer.



I would make a copy of the line drawing and place it on top and paint on a new layer underneath.
I just grabbed a section of the painting and did a color shift to give it the sun light effect.
